Who Designed The Art Print?

Meet artist Emily May. Best known by her alter ego ‘The Nonsense Maker’, she lives rogue in a world ruled by pure imagination. By day you can spot her caffeine fuelled and roaming the inner lane ways of Melbourne, by night she explored secret passageways winding to worlds only accessible in dreams. From these worlds she conjures her images, captured where dreaming meets reality and the nonsensical is in limitless bloom.

More About This Art Print

This whimsical kitchen art print from the Magic in the Mundane series has been hand illustrated using fine liner pens, digitally coloured, and printed in Melbourne by The Nonsense Maker.

This whimsical illustration has a unique vintage feel, with the vibrant colours and modern printing technique making it a wonderful contradiction. This kitchen wall art print has a blue colour pallet, with hints of vibrant yellows and reds drawing the eye to the smaller details. It features a neat stack of four peppermint tins. The top tin is slightly open and an array of bright beautiful flowers overflow from inside, hinting at the whimsical world within.

The Nonsense Makers art prints are all hand made in Melbourne using Australian suppliers. Beginning with a pencil sketch before moving to pen, a method called crosshatching is used to create the depth and the tone you see in the final design. This fine line art is then scanned into a computer and coloured digitally. All our art prints are printed on the highest quality paper with fade-resistant pigment ink, giving this kitchen wall art the same life span as a painting.

Wall art prints are an expression of yourself and are the perfect way to make a space uniquely your own. Framed art is about finding the right balance of size, colour and composition, and it can be tricky. If you are feeling a little lost on how to frame art prints, check out our blog page for our best tips for decorating with wall art.

The Nonsense Maker’s Australian art prints are imagined from a fun and whimsical world where dreaming meets reality. Sometimes silly and sometimes sad, inspired by etching techniques used by old time illustrators. While the handmade greeting cards have much less detail, the book art prints can take up to 60 hours to create. Each of The Nonsense Maker’s wall art prints come packaged with a vintage book inspired backing board, and a short story of the inspiration behind the print.
