Shipping & Delivery
Orders are usually dispatched within 2-3 business days, unless otherwise advised.
If your order is urgent please let us know and we will do our best to prioritise your order. We always recommend selecting the express shipping option at the checkout for urgent orders.
Once your order is dispatched from our Melbourne studio, standard delivery times apply. Please refer to the Australia Post website for more details.
Please note: Shipping delays can occur during peak times.
Yes! You can pick up directly from our Brunswick studio during business hours, Monday to Friday, by selecting the 'Pick Up' option at the checkout.
As we are not always in the studio, please contact us to arrange a time before you arrive.

All orders are shipped directly from our studio in Brunswick, Melbourne.
We use Australia Post to ship all orders.
We sure do! International shipping rates are calculated at the checkout.
Shipping charges are based on standard Australia Post prices, and vary depending on your location. Please refer to the checkout for exact amounts.
Sometimes life gets busy and orders get left to the last minute, we get it!
If your order is urgent contact us and we will do everything we can to get it to you ASAP.
We highly recommend choosing the express shipping option for urgent orders. While regular shipping is usually pretty fast, we can never guarantee delivery times, and delays are possible.
Yes. Express shipping (via Australia post) can be selected at the checkout.
Please note: Sometimes we turn off the express shipping option. As a small 2 person team we sometimes have to turn off express shipping, for example when we are both out of the studio for a market or event.
All orders over the minimum weight are tracked by default.
For smaller items you can choose one of two options at the checkout:
- Tracked via Australia Post (recommended)
- Untracked - sent with a regular postal stamp.
Returns & Refunds
We have a 100% happiness guarantee, because want you to love your Nonsense Maker products as much as we love making it!
If you don't love your purchase, or something isn't quite right, we will happily exchange it or refund you within 30 days.
We accept all returns within 30 days of receiving your order, for exchange, refund, or store credit.
Items must by in the same condition as when purchased, including all original packaging. Return shipping charges apply.

Requesting a return is easy! Simply contact us with your order number to arrange a refund or store credit.
Return shipping costs apply to return your product, and unfortunately are non-refundable.
Your refund will be processed within 3 days of us receiving your returned product (if applicable).
Please keep your return tracking number in case we do not receive your return shipment.

Unfortunately we can't accept returns for products purchased through a retail stockist. Please contact the store directly for more information on their specific returns policy.

Our Brunswick studio is open for online pick up orders only, and is not open to the public.
If you prefer to hold things before you buy, we also do regular design markets throughout the year (mostly in our home town of Melbourne). Keep an eye on our socials or sign up to our mailing list for updates.

Illustration & Design
Absolutely! We make all of our art prints right here in the studio, so we can happily turn any illustration into an art print!
Depending on which illustration you want we may be limited in how large or small the artwork can be printed. Contact us for more info!
As a general rule, unfortunately we do not offer custom illustrations for one off designs, with some exceptions.

All of the whimsical artwork at The Nonsense Maker is hand illustrated by our very own Melbourne based artist Emily May.
Emily May is a self-taught artist with an affinity for the peculiar, and a love of making nonsense.
Her artwork is finely hand-illustrated, creating beautiful images from thousands of tiny pen strokes. Inspired by old-world whimsy and vintage storybooks, Emily creates her playful, nostalgic art tea towels by blending her imaginary world with the modern day.
The Nonsense Maker is inspired by artist Emily May's adventuring alter ego, along with Melbourne’s many hidden secrets, and a whimsical world where nothing is quite as it seems.
The drawing style is reminiscent of etching techniques used by old-time illustrators, such as those found in vintage editions of Alice in Wonderland. The bright colours give a fun modern twist to a nostalgic drawing style.
Our artwork is created using a unique combination of both traditional hand illustration and digital colour.
Every piece starts with artist Emily May sketching out her design in pencil, before building up the illustration using a technique called crosshatching (layering thousands of tiny pen strokes to create form and tone). Emily then scans the drawing and colours it digitally.
The unique combination of hand-drawn line work with bold digital colour gives her illustrations a playful, yet nostalgic quality.

As the colour is added digitally, all original illustrations are black and white pen drawings.
For the time being we do not have any original artworks listed online. If you have an interest in a particular piece please get in touch and we can let you know if it is available for purchase.
