Meet Melbourne Artist Emily May

Emily May is a self-taught artist with an affinity for the peculiar, and a love of making nonsense.

Her artwork is finely hand-illustrated, creating beautiful images from thousands of tiny pen strokes. Inspired by old-world whimsey and vintage storybooks, Emily creates her playful, nostalgic pieces by blending her imaginary world with the modern day.

Our Australian art prints are created by our artist Emily May, a self taught illustrator based in Melbourne. Her work blends an imaginary world with the everyday. Characters, objects, and scenes that feel familiar, but always with a quirky twist.

For example the Aussie Teacups art print brings together a curated little world of native flora and Australian fauna, each settled into its own peculiar teacup, while the My Australian Kitchen art print is a love letter to the classic Australian kitchen in a wonderfully nostalgic way.

Our Australian art prints are intentionally designed to travel well, so they make the perfect gift for someone who is moving or travelling.

Our Australian art prints pack flat, are lightweight, and are also packaged in vintage book inspired, extra sturdy packaging to survive the adventure!

More than that, they are unique gift ideas for tourists because they tell a story. They capture the magic in our iconic Aussie places, food, and animals, in an authentic way, and through the eyes of an actual Australian artist.

The illustrations themselves are hand-drawn by Melbourne artist Emily May, in a style that draws from vintage storybook illustration and old-world whimsy that is unique to her. Every piece is signed and dated by the artist.

On top of that, our art prints are uniquely packaged in a high quality gold-foiled backing board with a vintage storybook feel. Each artwork comes with a poem about the inspiration behind the piece.

The artworks themselves are printed on 308gsm fine art cotton paper with pigment ink, giving them the same lifespan as a painting.

You bet they are! Here's why:

The ink - printed with rich, vibrant, high quality ink that will not fade over time.

The paper - printed on bespoke fine art 308gsm cotton paper with a beautiful matt finish.

The packaging - wonderful thick cardboard backing with gold foil, much like those found on a hard cover book. It's here you can also find a whimsical poem about the inspiration behind the australian art print!

Absolutely not! We print all of our art prints in house with a special kind of pigment ink, giving them the same lifespan as a painting!

Our art prints come in a few standard sizes:

  • A5 art prints (Smallest)
  • A4 art prints
  • A3 art prints
  • A2 art prints (biggest)

Hint: A4 is a standard piece of printer paper!

A great way to find which art print size works best for you is to measure the wall or frame you have in mind, then use a piece (or pieces) of paper to visualise the artwork in that space.

Our smaller prints are perfect for shelves, desks, and cosy corners, while larger sizes make a statement above a sofa or bed.
