“Treasured memories manifest in the homes of great adventurers, while unexpected details shape the ordinary into the extraordinary. Like the collection of dust on sills and knick knacks on shelves, slight peculiarities gather in everyday settings.” -NM

This beach art print titled ‘The Kitchen in the Sea’ from the Peculiar Places collection has been hand illustrated using fine liner pens, digitally coloured, and printed in Melbourne by The Nonsense Maker. Available in A4 and A3 size, the highly detailed drawing portrays what on first glance looks like an ordinary kitchen scene. On second glance however the viewer discovers there is a whole ocean scene inside. With hidden pieces of coral, tiny fish and octopus tentacles the artwork creates a hidden world to be discovered. The wall art print in perfect as a bedroom wall art piece or as an accent in any room.

The Nonsense Maker’s ‘Kitchen in the Sea’ art print is hand made in Melbourne using all Australian suppliers. Beginning with a pencil sketch before moving to pen, a method called crosshatching is used to create the depth and the tone you see in the final design. This fine line art is then scanned into a computer and coloured digitally. All our art prints are printed on the highest quality paper with fade-resistant pigment ink, giving them the same life span as a painting.

Beach art prints are an expression of yourself and are the perfect way to make a space uniquely your own. Framed art is about finding the right balance of size, colour and composition, and it can be tricky. If you are feeling a little lost on how to frame art prints, check out our blog page for our best tips for decorating with wall art.

The Nonsense Maker’s Australian art prints are imagined from a fun and whimsical world where dreaming meets reality. Sometimes silly and sometimes sad, inspired by etching techniques used by old time illustrators. While the handmade greeting cards have much less detail, beach art prints can take up to 60 hours to create. Each of The Nonsense Maker’s costal art prints come packaged with a vintage book inspired backing board, and a short story of the inspiration behind the piece.
