This whimsical ‘Gift Basket on a Boat’ all occasion, get well or sympathy greeting card has been hand illustrated using fine liner pens, digitally coloured, and printed in Melbourne by The Nonsense Maker. The highly detailed drawing portrays a rowboat floating on a rolling sea with a fishing rod hanging off the side. A small basket is hooked on the end of the fishing line, and is filled with comforting gifts. Inspired by a dreamlike world where little is what it seems, this greeting card has a bright colour palette, using large blocks of blue, brown, and details in red, purple, white and blue.

The Nonsense Maker’s ‘Gift Basket on a Boat’ greeting card is sustainably hand made in Melbourne using all Australian suppliers.

Beginning with a pencil sketch before moving to pen, a method called crosshatching is used to create the depth and the tone you see in the final design. This fine line art is then scanned into a computer and coloured digitally. All our sympathy cards are ethically printed on high quality recycled paper, and our envelopes are 100% recycled.

We often have customers let us know they love our sympathy cards but struggle to think of things to write in them, and they are certainly not alone there! Check out our blog page for our top tips on what to write in a greeting card.

The Nonsense Maker’s unique sympathy card designs are imagined from a whimsical world where dreaming meets reality. Sometimes silly and sometimes sad, inspired by etching techniques used by old time illustrators. While The Nonsense Maker’s art prints often have finer details, the greeting cards and quirky stationery are usually an easy cheerful expression designed to bring a smile to your face.
