“Gerald comes from a long line of prestigious and highly skilled grass eaters. Gerald was set to continue in the family business of grass eating, until one day he decided to risk it all and pursue his long held childhood dream of accounting. Although he may be a bit serious at times, Gerald has a witty sense of humour and is a fiercely loyal friend and companion. Gerald's story is a bit sillier that most, but please don’t tell him, he considers himself a serious professional.”

This quirky A5 wall art print titled ‘Gerald's Head’ from the Animal Portrait set has been hand illustrated using fine liner pens, digitally coloured, and printed in Melbourne by The Nonsense Maker. The highly detailed drawing portrays the head of a tall giraffe named Gerald, in an ornate wooden frame. Gerald is wearing an elegant navy and red top hat and has a slight smile on his face. Inspired by a dreamlike world where little is what it seems, this art print has a vintage inspired colour palette, using olive green, brown, and neutral yellow and cream.

The Nonsense Maker’s ‘Gerald's Head’ art print is hand made in Melbourne using all Australian suppliers. Beginning with a pencil sketch before moving to pen, a method called crosshatching is used to create the depth and the tone you see in the final design. This fine line art is then scanned into a computer and coloured digitally. All our art prints are printed on the highest quality paper with fade-resistant pigment ink, giving them the same life span as a painting.

Animal portrait wall art prints are an expression of yourself and are the perfect way to make a space uniquely your own. Framed art is about finding the right balance of size, colour and composition, and it can be tricky. If you are feeling a little lost on how to frame art prints, check out our blog page for our best tips for decorating with wall art.

The Nonsense Maker’s Australian art prints are imagined from a fun and whimsical world where dreaming meets reality. Sometimes silly and sometimes sad, inspired by etching techniques used by old time illustrators. While the handmade greeting cards have much less detail, the animal portrait art prints can take up to 60 hours to create. Each of The Nonsense Maker’s wall art prints come packaged with a vintage book inspired backing board, and a short story of the inspiration behind the animal portrait.
