Merci - French Thank You Card

This playful ‘Merci’ French thank you card has been hand illustrated using fine liner pens, digitally coloured, and printed in Melbourne by The Nonsense Maker. The highly detailed drawing portrays the french words for thank you, merci beaucoup. the word merci is formed out of french bread and pastries, and the word beaucoup sits below in a vintage style banner. Small red, white and blue spots are scattered around the pale blue background. Inspired by a dreamlike world where little is what it seems, this greeting card has a french inspired colour palette, using blue, red, and white, as well and beige and brown. This quirky card is the perfect French thank you card for teachers!

Beginning with a pencil sketch before moving to pen, a method called crosshatching is used to create the depth and the tone you see in the final design.
